Susannah Providence Torpey

Ms. Torpey’s principal areas of practice include antitrust litigation and counseling, international antitrust investigations, international Foreign Corrupt Practices Act investigations, and complex, multidistrict, and class action litigation.

With respect to her antitrust practice, Ms. Torpey has experience representing major U.S. and multinational corporations in litigation and government investigations involving a wide array of federal and state antitrust issues, including price fixing, group boycotts, monopolization, exclusive dealing, tying, price discrimination, unfair competition, anticompetitive product redesign, and mixed issues of antitrust and intellectual property law relating to FRAND obligations, standard setting, patent licensing, and patent misuse. Ms. Torpey also counsels international and U.S. businesses regarding the minimization of antitrust risk and evaluates board and other corporate activities for antitrust compliance.

Ms. Torpey advises in the preparation and trial of complex cases. She has represented clients in all stages of litigation, including trial and appeals, and has experience arguing in federal court and advising clients at every level of the federal court system. She regularly represents plaintiffs, as well as defendants, and has represented clients in both civil and criminal matters, including in international criminal antitrust investigations and parallel FCPA investigations by the DOJ and SEC. Ms. Torpey has represented and counseled clients in a variety of industries, including the pharmaceutical, biotech, internet, electronics, publishing, professional sports, steel products, coffee products, food distribution, international trade, and financial services industries.

During law school, Ms. Torpey served as a Judicial Intern to the Honorable Judge Delissa A. Ridgway of the U.S. Court of International Trade. Ms. Torpey also served as a Legal Intern in the Criminal Division of the U.S. Department of Justice.
