Stuart Sugarman

Stuart Sugarman has over 25 years of experience in banking, as both in-house counsel and as outside counsel. Stewart handles a wide variety of legal matters, including regulatory issues; corporate matters; contracts, uniform commercial code issues; real estate matters; and loan workouts.

Stuart also has extensive experience handling claims review, on behalf of insurers, of complex insurance claims from financial institutions relating to professional liability insurance and fidelity bond coverage. His insurance practice includes extensive experience in the handling of multi-million dollar insurance claims filed on behalf of insureds relating to professional liability insurance coverage.

Stuart has also advised clients on various employment matters, negotiated employment and termination agreements, license agreements, commercial leases, the sale of real estate owned and has overseen compliance with the reporting requirements of a publicly traded company. He has managed the corporate matters of various banking institutions and their operating subsidiaries. Stuart has represented banking institutions in matters with the FDIC, the OTS, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, and the New York State Banking Department.
