Heather M. Zimmer

Heather Zimmer, an associate with Goldberg Segalla's Corporate Services and Commercial Litigation practice, counsels clients through all types of corporate law and operational issues and represents them in both state and federal courts and avenues of alternative dispute resolution.

Heather helps clients to navigate complex commercial disputes and government investigations and counsels them on matters pertaining to employment law, real estate, intellectual property, First Amendment issues, international law, and securities. Her practice includes representing clients in the courtroom; drafting substantive motions, pleadings, discovery requests and responses, and settlement agreements in both state and federal courts and arbitrations; and management of extensive document review and e-discovery. She has served clients including condominium sponsors, limited liability companies, international clothing distributors, fashion brands, domestic travel companies, small business partners, finance firms, real estate investors, and commercial real estate and investment firms.

After graduating magna cum laude from Rutgers University, Heather attended Fordham University School of Law, where she served as Notes and Articles editor for the Fordham Urban Law Journal, associate editor for the Dispute Resolution Society, and the school’s American Bar Association (ABA) representative, while volunteering with the Domestic Violence Action Center and the Courtroom Advocates Project. Heather held various legal internships, including with the King’s County District Attorney’s Office and the New York County District Attorney’s Office. She also held a summer internship with the Civil Division of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York, where she gained experience in matters involving the False Claims Act; Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA); the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA); and the Financial Institutions Reform, Recovery, and Enforcement Act (FIRREA). She also compiled research and memoranda utilized in a multibillion-dollar settlement with a global bank.

Representative Matters

• Advised a condominium developer in multiple litigation matters against several condominium boards, including drafting multiple demand letters and motions to dismiss claims for fraud and breach of implied warranty
• Successfully opposed discovery motions in a state government investigation
• Drafted successful opposition motions to disqualify counsel
• Successfully defended clothing brands and their employees against a former manufacturer in a case alleging breach of contract, conversion, and unjust enrichment
• Advised and obtained complete dismissal of Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and New York Labor Law (NYLL) claims for a domestic travel company
