"I have received large numbers of phone calls complaining of divorce litigation in Manhattan in Judge Cooper's courtroom. I could not respond until I was retained by one Russian man and actually appeared in Cooper's part. The impression I have is that in every case before Cooper, there is one clear winner (the 'magician') and a total loser. My Russian client missed appearances because of Hurricane Sandy and was smacked with an imputed income amount for child support. Cooper would not adjust his income to realistic levels at all during the case. Instead, Cooper promised a hearing where Sheriff's deputies were to appear for his arrest. It was clear that coercion using arrest which leads to a settlement in the divorce action is desirable. However, using such a method of judging leads to erroneous results because facts don't matter in Cooper's part. The aim appears to be the settlement rather than the facts and that disconnect taints Cooper."

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
