Highly Recommended!!!

In 2018, I appeared in front of immigration where my asylum status and work permit were taken. I had a previous lawyer whom gladly took the money but did not do any work to help appeal the decision. From 2018 up to the present time, 6 long years, I was unable to work since I no longer had my work p...ermit. I have had great support and help from friends, family, church members to raise funds to obtain the money needed for application fees, documentation and the previous lawyer. Since then I have been working diligently to obtain all the necessary documentation and complying with all the requests by immigration. Fast Forward to May of 2023, all documents were certified and received by USCIS. After months and months of having a pending status, with zero ability to speak with a representative at their office, I was getting frustrated since there had not been word regarding the status of my case. I met Barbara Brandes unexpectedly and our paths were meant to cross. She heard my story and the length of time it has taken for my case status to still be pending. She immediately got involved and was calling immigration to find out why my case was at a standstill. Come to find out it was all still pending because my medical documentation was not even attached to my case because it was sitting in the mail receiving, an entire year later. Then in two weeks’ time she was able to get my case resolved and now I have my green card!

marriage based adjustment of status

Attorney Brandes resolved my marriage-based adjustment of status case, which was pending at USCIS since July 2018. First time, I have entered her office on 28th March 2022 and yesterday, on May 23rd, I received my ten-years green card. If I can describe Attorney Brandes in one word, this word would b...e efficient. She understands how the USCIS's people think, she knows the law and she has 40 years of experience in the field. Also, she is intelligent and straightforward....very straightforward. In summary: her fees are reasonable, her support is priceless. If you want your case to be resolved efficiently - hire Attorney Brandes. This is the lesson, which I, as an immigrant, have learned after four years of struggling in New York.

The worst experience I’ve ever had with an Attourney

This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with any attorney, I hired Barbara J Brandes on March 31st 2021 I had to do a consultation over the phone where I shared background information with her because I was trying to obtain citizenship she then told me that she deals with case like this an t...hat I qualified for her services, I paid her the price she requested for her service in full upfront I may have spoken to this woman a total of 5 times in the entire year, everytime I spoke to this woman she didn’t hesitate in calling me a criminal, everytime I spoke with her she forgot the status of my case , she continued to call me a criminal an after doing absolutely nothing for me she expressed frustration an suggested that I hire an Attourney in the state in which I live, she kept calling me a criminal an stated that she should proceed to do a federal background check on me, I’ve paid my dept to society long ago but I felt lower than dirt the way this woman talked to me it brought me to tears. I would highly recommend if you are a minority or a man or woman of color, That YOU DO NOT GO TO THIS WOMAN FOR ANY OF HER SERVICES, I feel horrible after my experience with this woman Barbara J Brandes

I am very disappointed by this review. This client lives in Texas and therefore asked for a telephone consultation; further he did not fully pay the agreed upon fee to analyze the immigration consequences of his criminal convictions until 6 months after we spoke. As you can see from my other reviews, our office strives to help everyone who is eligible for relief. We are very honest, treat everyone well regardless of skin color, are highly recommended by persons from many countries, and are the go-to lawyers in the Liberian, Jamaican, Trinidadian, Nigerian, Ghanian, Guyanese, Bangladesh, Ecuadorian, Mexican, Dominican Republic, Colombian etc communities. Unfortunately what some persons do not realize is that the most important time to hire an immigration lawyer is while the criminal case is going on as judges are often willing to settle on convictions that would not have immigration consequences; further criminal convictions often have immigration consequences even after a person has "paid their debt to society". I apologize for being very frank with this client who I asked for the missing disposition of one of his arrests before I could absolutely advise him of his eligibility for citizenship; however he got very angry with me and falsely accused me of doing nothing on his case; thereafter I sent him many pages of my progress notes to prove the number of hours spent analyzing his case. At the end of my transmittal, I offered to continue representing him after he sends me the missing disposition.

Highly recommend

I met Barbara a few years ago. I was at my wits end and desperately needed the services of a great immigration lawyer. Even though my case was a difficult one which no one else would take she decided she would try. It took a while, but somehow she found some obscure law that made it possible for me t...o receive my green card. Today I am so thankful. It might have been a bit expensive but it was totally worth it. This has changed my life forever. Thank you Barbara

Relationship: Worked for lawyer

"Barbara J. Brandes is one of the top immigration lawyers in New York City if not the entire country. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is active in the community. She volunteers for numerous pro-immigrant groups providing free consultations and legal advice to those who cannot afford to pay for a lawyer. She practices all areas of immigration law and is known and respected as an expert in the field. In my 5 years working with her, she took on numerous difficult and complex cases and won countless cases using her advanced experience in the field, unique, advanced, and creative legal arguments, and her never-take-no-for-an-answer attitude. No immigration lawyer will fight harder for a client than Barbara, and no lawyer will "give it to you straight" the way Barbara will; never giving a potential or current client false hope but always basing her theory and predicted success rate of the case in her experience and also reality."
