Joseph George Colbert

I retained Colbert law as the company that employs a lawyer I met on recommendation who I had had a good experience with in the past. Joe Colbert is that lawyer’s boss. I retained Colbert specifically to write a letter to the board of a building in response to issues of corruption and harassment. I w...as very clear that my ask was to send a letter first and then take it from there to keep costs down. I also very clearly asked that Joe alert me to when we were getting close to hitting the end of my retainer. I also provided deep detailed notes on all documentation basically doing the paralegal work myself to keep costs down. Instead Joe wrote a full legal filing that in first draft was way off and needed to be heavily corrected. I never received the letter. On top of that, I also received a bill for an additional $3500 on top of my retainer with no heads up that we had come anywhere near hitting my cap. Because Colbert skipped the letter part and went straight to a full complaint he stripped away my ability to have a cheaper conversation first and only left me with the very expensive option of filing and going to court. I do not recommend Colbert.
