You can do all three things. Either of them. You can check online, schedule InfoPass appointment or call the 1800 number.

I am not sure you need to let them know. I think it is best to do that, but in my opinion you can just file for adjustment of status.

There is a nunc pro tunc process that you might be able to utilize which might allow you to change your asylum derivative to asylum principle...

They should not be able to or allowed to do that. Talk to a local employment lawyer.

The USCIS approved my husband case but later on, the embassy turned it down and returned it back to the USCIS!?

yes it is the correct address. They also have a phone number listed and you can also call them.
