Michael S. Discioarro

I am writing this review for Michael Discioarro. Before hiring Michael, I paid another lawyer almost twice the fee, to do zero percent of the work that was needed in my case. This was unfortunate and incredibly frustrating. I realized that it was time to hire THE person who was ready to do the work,... had the skills and expertise, and, frankly, was intelligent, focused and strong enough to accomplish the task. I made the absolute best decision in hiring Michael, because he is and was that person for my case. I was impressed by Michael’s laser focus on getting me through this case. For me it was a matter of a hearing, but if you are wise, you will want him to be on your side from the moment you face a legal challenge related to ACS or any of his areas of expertise. Without a doubt, if I had hired him (or even known what to look for in a lawyer) when my situation first came about, I KNOW I would have not lost months of my life. What my intuition told me was, “this is the best person for the job. Hire him. Now.” Here’s how I figured that out: the first time I met Michael, I noticed that he was the first lawyer to tell me clearly what his approach was. He was honest and straightforward. I could tell that he was ready to believe in my case also, even if he didn’t have every last detail yet. And that meant a lot. He also knew how dysfunctional ACS is, and how they would not willingly put anyone’s interests above their own. He was the first (and only) lawyer to be very, very clear on the fact that I did not do anything warranting a case filed by ACS; and that is the type of lawyer every person who is on the side of truth, deserves. It means nothing if you have a great lawyer, but he’s only fighting your case because it’s a job he signed up to do and not because he actually SEES the truth; I believe it makes a difference as to the result you will get in the case, and, in how far that lawyer is willing to go to make it happen. It made a difference to me because of the position I was in, and if it makes a difference to you, then I highly recommend you go meet Michael to hire him as your lawyer. Later when we actually went through the facts of the case, his faith in our case and me just became stronger. This is the type of lawyer any client would want—one that believes in the truth, facts, and the literally “outstanding” portrayal of them. If you have the facts on your side, that’s great, but you also need a lawyer who will PRESENT the facts, leaving zero room for doubt. This is exactly what Michael did, when it came time to the hearing—he was on top of it. Every other lawyer I met or talked to on the phone prior to hiring Michael, found a way to make me feel guilty and small—I’m pretty sure that’s not the job description of an excellent lawyer, especially one that you are hiring to prove and stand up for your credibility and character—in my case. On the other hand, I met with Micheal and then took a day to sleep on the matter of hiring him or not, and all I felt was relief. Relief that I could stop being overwhelmed by my own case and hand it over to someone with experience, intelligent, and straightforward clarity. It was the first night I had truly slept peacefully since the many months that I had been going through my situation. That’s what let me know, that this was the right person for the job. I was done messing around with ACS and the case they had fabricated against me. I wanted my life back, and if you are reading this review—know that hiring Michael will be on of the best things you could do to achieve your goals in that regard. The day of the hearing will always stay in my mind, as a time of external struggle and internal peace. Our hearing was delayed for over 2.5 hours due to completely preventable “technical difficulties” on the part of ACS and their lawyer.

Mike's experience and knowledge led to a satisfactory resolution to ACS's petition. Mike is a vigorous and committed defender, and gave sound advice on how to deal with ACS and the Family Court process. If you are being targeted by ACS, you're not going to do better than Mike in finding a tenacious... lawyer to advise you and to represent your interests.

This review comes from someone with a law degree from NYC. I landed on Michael after a thorough review online of his background and DWI experience. It's hard to think where my life and career would be right now if I entrusted my case (which involved an aggressive NYPD traffic stop leading to a DWI ch...arge) to any other lawyer I considered. Michael displayed the perfect combination of factors: he aggressively defended me, respectfully contested any and all prosecutorial overstepping, understood exactly how/where their case was weak, and all the while kept me at ease in an otherwise stressful situation. And that was no easy task - my case kept getting adjourned because the prosecution was never ready. And while I wasn't thrilled that the court kept making me appear (over a year and half - one of the longest cases on the docket), Michael was there for me every step of the way. What did all that amount to? A DWI charge reduced to community service - no probation, no suspension, no major disruption to my life. While you must keep in mind that every case is different, one sure guarantee is that if Michael takes your case, he WILL defend you to the fullest. By the end, I considered Michael a friend as much as a lawyer.

Michael has been handling my ACS case and has done an excellent job moving it forward and winning the case for me. On the way he has shown a good understanding of the system and has been extremely sympathetic to me and my child. He was available when I needed his help and his advice was spot on. I ...highly recommend him.
