as far as getting sworn in - depends on the jurisdiction. For example, Newark NJ does same day ceremonies, but not in NY.

NVC sends it to the Embassy and then the Embassy contacts her. Hopefully not too much longer.

NYS may give you problems marrying with an expired passport. make sure you have copies of the passport and I-94 before you give it in anywhere. ...
