It is very rewarding to be part of the Drugs & Medical Devices Litigation team because of the opportunities it gives me to be an advocate for those who have been injured and would not otherwise have a voice against injustice.
Thanks to her being a gridiron fan who once worked as a law clerk for the National Football League, our Elizabeth Segal knows what championship teams look like. Now, having joined Weitz & Luxenberg, she is on one. Ms. Segal was a 2014 draft pick for our Drugs & Medical Devices Litigation team, although technically she has been was with us longer — in 2008 she was welcomed aboard for a year to work as one of our legal assistants.
Ms. Segal worked for the NFL during the winter and spring of 2013 while also a student at Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. That job was followed by a summer 2013 internship in the Office of the General Counsel of the New York State Department of Financial Services. The summer before that, Ms. Segal interned in the chambers of the Hon. Esther Morgenstern of the Supreme Court of Kings County, New York. Ms. Segal served two academic years as a member of the editorial staff of the Cardozo Public Law, Policy, and Ethics Journal. She also was a teaching assistant, mentor and school administrative office aide. For a time, Ms. Segal held the post of Sports Chair of the school’s Sports and Entertainment Law Students Association (besides football, she loves baseball and swimming). In 2014, her law education at Cardozo completed, Ms. Segal received a juris doctor degree and shortly afterward gained admission to the bar of the state of New York. Ms. Segal enrolled in Cardozo following graduation from New York University in 2011, where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in history and secured for herself a spot on the Dean’s List every semester, thanks to her outstanding grades. As for her law school experience, Ms. Segal benefitted from a pair of internships while she attended NYU. One placed her on the Finance Committee of the campaign conducted by Kathleen Rice, then a candidate for New York state attorney general. The earlier internship placed Ms. Segal in the New York office of U.S. Sen. Charles E. Schumer.
