Barry Richard Sugarman

Barry Sugarman has represented individuals and the families of those who have suffered injury and wrongful death since 1991. He only represents individuals and their families and does not represent nursing homes, asbestos companies, pharmaceutical companies, or hospitals that cause New Jersey citizens’ injury and death.

Mr. Sugarman is proud to be an advocate for the elderly. A substantial part of his practice is devoted to lawsuits against nursing homes, assisted living and other elder care facilities. He fights for the elderly when these facilities neglect and abuse residents causing catastrophic injury and death. He represents older workers and their families against the asbestos companies when workers are diagnosed with mesothelioma and lung cancer caused by long term asbestos exposure.

Mr. Sugarman represents those injured by many different kinds of dangerous and defective drugs and medical devices. Some of the cases he is currently handling include injuries caused by the Yaz/Yazmin birth control drug, transvaginal mesh devices, Paxil anti-depressant cases and metal-on-metal defective hips. He is an experienced litigator in this area having worked for those injured by defective pharmaceuticals as far back as 1995. He and his firm individually, and together with regional and national law firms, work to obtain the best results possible for victims of corporate misconduct.

He is a member of several boards and organizations including the Board of Governors for the New Jersey Association for Justice, the Public Interest Law Center of New Jersey, and Advocates for a Lead Safe New Jersey.

Mr. Sugarman has served as a Barrister in The Joseph Halpern Inn of Court helping less experienced attorneys develop their legal skills.
