I retained Joe Strauss to help with my child custody case. He is forgetful, slow, takes two hour meetings to discuss what should need 1 hour, then loses the notes and magnetic tapes he used to gather the information which he can't remember himself. And you are charged for the time he needs for you to... repeat yourself. Then I lost my job - I called to end the relationship which I could no longer afford. He persuaded me to use up the rest of the retainer, and agreed to not charge me more than that and that we'd stop consulting when it ran out. He did not do this, didn't inform me when it ran out, continued to assure me there was room, then gave me a nearly $2000 bill at the end of the month. Which I don't have the money to pay and he is now threatening legal action over. On top of this, multiple invites to dinner, interrupting me and failing to listen to my opinions, continually referring to case assets incorrectly (such as calling my Marriage Settlement Agreement a Property Agreement), advice that was poor and caused me more problems... I could not possibly recommend this person and in fact recommend he retire before he causes damage to more than someones wallet. In the end, I resolved my case on my own through mediation, having sunk $7k with Strauss for absolutely no value at all.

Mr. Joe Strauss Esq. has represented me for a number of years now due to the continuous false accusations made by the mother of my daughter to all sorts of agency's and people. I completely disagree with what was written about him in another review and can only believe that that was done fictitiousl...y by an advocate's client to simply retaliate against him for proving the truth. Mr. Strauss Esq. may not have the most exquisite office in appearance but his work and knowledge for the law goes unsurpassed. He not only is a great lawyer but a good man (which is difficult to say about many lawyers),as he is considerate and helpful throughout every aspect of which he is hired to do. He graduated from a high profile School of Law and continues to further keep up to date with educating himself to represent his clients with both dignity and respect. I highly recommend him and have done so on many different occasions, who also had the same respect for him. For others who may have broken the law, he was capable of getting charges changed to less, or at the minimum gets the minimum penalties or simply dismissed altogether. If you are innocent of what you are accused of (as in my particular cases), he will prove this to any honest Judge or prosecutor (I say this because Its sad that there is still discrimination from time to time). Mr Strauss is well known in the industry as when I have gone to hearings with him he is welcomed by name. Advocate lawyers fear his ability to ensure the law is both not broken but the laws imposed to protect citizens from false prosecution in criminal or municipal matters and that the best interest of the child is looked after in matrimonial cases involving a child/children. I again Highly recommend this Man of Justice to represent anyone with legal matters. If he does not specialize it a particular area, he will recommend you to someone who specializes in that area of law. Mr Strauss is a Great Lawyer, Great Father and must be a Great employer since his employees have been with him for years. He is a Great Man of Justice. I've unfortunately had used other "high profile lawyers" and went back to Mr Strauss because his ability to show the truth by the way the law is intended. He has represented me for more then 10 years now, and unfortunately (due to the relationship with the mother of my child) may need his help for another 8 years..... Mr. Strauss and his staff helped me tremendously through a very difficult separation and divorce. He and his staff were always available to answer questions and advise me regarding the legal and financial processes and procedures involved in the divorce. His staff also provided comfort and understan...ding regarding my frustrations and concerns as we moved through the process. I truly believe they had my best interests at the forefront of decision making and always provided me options regarding moving the case forward.
