Misty A. V. Avallone

It's been a long road and I have been overwhelmed and scared and generally avoidant of all the unpleasant aspects of achieving a divorce in a high conflict situation. Misty is a saint for putting up with me :) When I was too stressed to look at my email (always) she would tell me if it was important ...via text or just text me :) I know lawyers aren't therapists but dang she is the closest you can get to that. She is also an extremely great lawyer and communicates well throughout the process. She explained stuff to me which helped a lot so I understood my options. She pushed to get me the best situation I could get in the end. I felt like she had my back the whole time and I never doubted that she was doing the best she could navigating the family court system for me. She draws on years of experience and that is evident. I would absolutely recommend her to my friends and family.

Misty has worked with her partner, Hanan, to resolve my somewhat messy divorce. She is the "ying" to her partner's "yang", working together to guide and negotiate for my divorce. She is detail oriented and nailed all my concerns, as I went from issue to issue. Meticulous and thorough, as well as a... great listener. She addressed all of my hot button issues and got resolutions for me.

I worked with two other experienced lawyers for my post-divorce case before working with Hanan and Misty. The first seemed capable and impressive, but soon passed me off to his less-experienced associate who gave me no real counsel or information to make my decisions. I felt like I was driving with a... passenger in the back seat. The second gave sound counsel and was attentive at first, but soon become very unresponsive. Even opposing counsel couldn't get a hold of him. I can only surmise that he was buried under the work that comes with running a sole practice (he had no associates) or he was dealing with personal matters. I was so desperate at this point that I was ready to forego counsel altogether and let the cards fall. That's when I serendipitously met Misty, who happens to live in my town, through our local copy center. When I sat with Hanan and Misty, it was like a breath of fresh air. They really listened to me, they really got where I was coming from and understood that there is a lot to unpack with divorce law. It's not like patent law; it's sticky and tangled. And they were willing to put in the hard work to unravel it WITH me. They emphasized that we were working on a team. I felt like I had control and power in my decision-making, and simultaneously like I was being wisely advised and directed. They are also on top of things, have the legal answers to your questions, and are tough when called for. I felt quite intimidated by the communications from my ex and opposing counsel, but several times they swooped in with firm words in rebuttal. I felt like I had true protection. Now all this being said, we all worked very hard on this case--very hard, and for the most part it didn't turn out in my favor, but there are many factors that go into the outcomes of legal cases. I know from my experiences with other lawyers and the difference with Misty and Hanan that I got the some of the best counsel out there, and I feel good that I gave it my all. I would definitely use them again.
