Searra Sequin Hazel

Searra S. Hazel is an associate attorney at Petrelli Previtera, LLC, licensed in New Jersey, where she works with clients on divorce, custody, child support and family law matters across the state.

Searra has advised hundreds of clients at the start of a divorce or custody process, and much of her work happens before anyone sets foot in a courtroom. She believes a well-prepared client is an empowered client, so she is direct about what the law allows and where false expectations lead to delay and cost.

"Family law is about managing expectations," she explains. "Emotions can cloud judgment, so my role is to guide my clients with both empathy and legal clarity." Her practice balances advocacy with practical problem solving: negotiating settlements built for long-term stability, educating clients about their rights and responsibilities, and resolving disputes without unnecessary litigation where that serves the family.

Searra earned her Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from Howard University. Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey, she mentors aspiring law students and has provided pro bono support to small businesses and community housing organizations.
