Elizabeth A. Chang is an associate in the firm’s General Liability and Employment and Labor Practice Groups, with a focus on employment practices, professional liability, and casualty matters.
Liz works closely with clients and in-house counsel from the inception of litigation through settlement negotiation and trial preparation, conducting lead fact and expert witness depositions, drafting pleadings and motions, and representing clients in pre-trial conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement conferences.
Equipped with broad litigation experience, Liz also draws on deep in-house insight into employment and labor issues, civil rights claims, and professional liability matters. Liz previously worked as an employment practices liability claims specialist in the North American arm of one of the world’s largest insurers, where she focused on employment discrimination claims involving the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Age in Employment Discrimination Act (ADEA), Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, and the Conscientious Employee Protection Act, and advised corporate and public entities on claims liability, coverage, mediation strategy, and settlement negotiations. She also gained valuable experience as an extern with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, where she prepared legal memoranda for claims under the ADA, ADEA, and Title VII. Before that, Liz was a law clerk in a regional human resources department at one of the nation’s most prominent retailers; in this role, she drafted positions for general counsel and negotiated and executed corrective actions.
Beyond employment and labor, general professional liability, and casualty, Liz’s litigation experience also includes construction, commercial, and product liability matters.
After earning her bachelor’s at the University of Michigan, Liz earned her law degree at Rutgers University. Following graduation, she served as a law clerk under the Hon. Lisa F. Chrystal of the New Jersey Superior Court, and became a Certified Mediator.
