Cohen, Esq., in fact, views her 15-plus years as a New Jersey criminal prosecutor as a wealth of vital experience she puts to excellent use everyday as she tirelessly defends clients charged with all types of crimes in Camden County, including Camden, Cherry Hill, Gloucester Township, Pennsauken Township, Collingswood, Bellmawr, and Gloucester City, NJ.

In 2006, Attorney Jill Cohen became anxious to help those who were often wrongly accused of crimes in NJ. She founded the Law Offices of Jill R. Cohen and, from 2007 to 2008, she defended DWIs throughout the State of New Jersey in countless municipalities and county courts. She argued many appeals in the Superior Court of New Jersey and successfully won several cases on appeal ending in dismissal of DWIs.

Now, Ms. Cohen represents people accused of murder, manslaughter, felony murder, strict liability for murder, aggravated assaults, child abuse, sexual abuse, aggravated sexual assaults, leaders of narcotics networks, money laundering, and many other types of felonies and misdemeanors in South Jersey.

Ms. Cohen is focused on staying at the top of her craft. In 2008, Ms. Cohen was recommended by her peers to take an examination in criminal law expertise and was certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney. Recently, she completed an Advanced Advocacy course at the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia where she was guided by experts throughout the country. She has achieved many acquittals in many serious cases in courtrooms throughout NJ. She argues cases before the Superior Court of New Jersey.

Ms. Cohen treats every client as if they are members of her family. She is available every day to answer calls and meet with clients in need. Because of her vast experience of over 30 years in the criminal justice system in Philadelphia and New Jersey and her years as an assistant district attorney and county prosecutor, she is familiar with the personnel in the court system and the assistants in the prosecutor’s offices in New Jersey. She has a great working relationship with people that are in a position of deciding her client’s future. There are few attorneys in our area of South Jersey who have the care mixed with the experience that Ms. Cohen enjoys. Ms. Cohen graduated with high honors and in the top 10 percent of her class in 1981 from Widener University School of Law, Wilmington, Delaware. She was chosen to join the prestigious law review for the Delaware Journal of Corporate Law. Following law school, she was chosen to clerk for the Hon. George J. Ivins who was in charge of the homicide program in the Court of Common Pleas in Philadelphia. She then accepted an appointment to the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office under the Honorable Edward G. Rendell, as an Assistant Philadelphia District Attorney.

A number of years later, with a strong foundation of criminal prosecution beneath her feet, Ms. Cohen moved to South Jersey and was appointed assistant prosecutor in the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office under the Hon. Lee Solomon. As an assistant prosecutor, she litigated complex motions for the State, was an acting Camden City Municipal Prosecutor, and indicted over 800 cases before the Camden County Grand Jury.

Ms. Cohen handled hundreds of indictable/felony and juvenile cases and tried numerous jury trials, in areas such as drug possession and distribution, school zone violations, domestic violence, aggravated assault, fraud, burglary, robbery, child sexual assault, child physical abuse, homicides, attempted murder and other crimes of magnitude.

In addition to a private practice, she currently works with Deputy Public Defenders in Atlantic County, Camden County, Gloucester County, and Burlington County to defend clients accused of homicides, sexual assaults, murder-for-hire, gang violence, armed robberies, fraud, leaders of drug trafficking networks, as well as other significant matters.
