NJ Resident who is a Full Time Out of State College Student and was Charged with DWI (prescription drug), Reckless, Carless, and Failure to Maintain by a New Jersey State Trooper. Defendant was advised ... that it could take up to 45 days to receive discovery from the State Police. Discovery was promtply requested but not received prior to his court date. Against my legal advice, the Defendant elected to enter a guilty plea to the DWI and lost his license for 7 months plus the IDRC requirements, fines and surcharges. Had he waited until I received and reviewed the State Police Discovery, which was two weeks after his court date, he would have been found NOT GUILTY of the DWI Charge.
