Biography
James H. Maynard is the founder and managing member of Maynard Law Office, LLC. The firm has been providing high quality legal council and aggressive representation since 1994. Established as one of the first criminal defense “boutique” firms in the State of New Jersey, Mr. Maynard's practice evolved to focus on post-convction sex offender representation, including but not limited to Megan's Law, Community Supervision for Life (CSL), and Parole Supervision for Law (PSL).
Mr. Maynard has actively volunteered and provided free services for the surrounding community. In 2002, James joined Trial Lawyers Care (TLC), an organization that provided "pro bono" (free) legal representation for 9/11 victims. He represented the only living "Lead Case" of the September 11th Victims before the Victims’ Compensation Fund, and litigated significant precedential issues to a successful conclusion.
Among Mr. Maynard's many accomplishments, he successfully appealed a portion of Megan's Law to the Supreme Court of New Jersey, leading to a dismissal of his client’s charges and a revision of Megan's Law by the New Jersey Legislature. In September 2013, Mr. Maynard was named Founding Chairman of the Megan's Law Sub-Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Assocaition, Criminal Section.
