My favorite lawyer

Peter is one of the best lawyers in this metropolitan area, if not in the entire country. He has been my family lawyer for over 25 years and has always provided sound legal advice, always encouraging me not to get involved in litigation or complex business arrangements. Over this time, he charged me ...very reasonable fees and provided hours of free consultation. You won't find a better lawyer anywhere, including the big name, very expensive firms.

Not a good immigration lawyer...

24 years ago I needed an immigration layer and I found Mr. Allegra in the yellow pages (there was no Internet back then). I called him to ask if he would handle my case. He said that I had to make an appointment an pay for a consultation and so I did. After charging me $50 in advance and describing ...my situation to him...I had an electrical engineering college degree an a company willing to hire me. He stood there with a straight face and told me that there was nothing that could be done, that company could not legally hire me and I had to go back to my country. The whole thing took no longer than 10 minutes. Disheartened I decided to get a second opinion. I found another lawyer, a real immigration lawyer this time. Six weeks later I had an H-1 (work) visa and a legal job as an engineer. I realized then that this person probably made his money. No need to take any job or to know anything about immigration law for the matter. Just charge for the consultation and dispatch the client very quickly with false information. I later became a legal resident an eventually a US citizen. I have had a successful and fulfilling engineering career in America...And to think that I almost gave it all up because of this..."immigration lawyer"

I have no idea who this person is. By his own statement it seems that I did not accept his case and therefore did not provide him with any legal representation. I have no way of responding with factual information as this person states that he saw me over 24 years ago. Since he was never my client, he has no basis to criticize my legal ability or the quality of my representation. I am pleased to learn that he became a US Citizen and I certainly wish him well in his endeavors. I also wish he would keep his hateful and baseless comments to himself and not attempt to discredit me.

Avvo Rating

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
  • Legal community recognition Peer endorsements, associations, awards
  • Legal thought leadership Publications, speaking engagements
  • Discipline Disciplinary information may not be comprehensive, or updated. We recommend that you always check a lawyer's disciplinary status with their respective state bar association before hiring them.
