Steven W. Tarta has been providing concentrated Estate Planning and Elder Law services since 1977. His focus has been on "Asset Preservation" resulting in the elimination or reduction of Federal and New Jersey Estate Taxation by the use of Revocable and Irrevocable Trusts such as Life Insurance Trusts, Qualified Personal Residence Trusts(estate planning for real estate), Revocable Living Trusts among other estate planning tools. Mr. Tarta provides a conservative and professional approach which analyzes the client's objectives and considers the nature of the client's assets and liabilities and thereafter matches the aforementioned to an appropriate strategy for Asset Preservation.
Born in Paterson, New Jersey, Mr. Tartas' family moved to Ridgewood to permit the children to benefit from the excellent school system. Upon completion of his high school education, Steven attended Alfred University completing a dual major in Business Administration and Economics; Steven graduated Alfred University in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Upon completion of college, Steven attended The John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois and received a Doctor of Laws Degree in 1971; however, during law school Steven attended and completed his study of International Law at The Peace Palace, at The Hague Academy of International Law in Brussels, Belgium. Steven was accepted as a Judicial Clerk by The Hon. William O'Connor and completed his clerkship at the Ocean County Courthouse. Thereafter, Steven applied for and was accepted as an Assistant County Prosecutor and became a trial attorney for the following five years. After retirement from the Prosecutor's Office, Steven believed he understood the operation of the court system as a result of his Judicial Clerkship and experience in The Prosecutor's Office; at this time Steven entered the private practice of Law. Steven built a very active litigation practice, however, he became increasingly interested in Federal and State Estate Tax Planning and Elder Law, as well as Residential Real Estate and Commercial Real Estate. Also, Steven developed an active Corporate and Business Law practice. For the past twenty one years Steven has concentrated his practice in the areas of sophisticated Federal and New Jersey Estate Tax Planning and Elder Law as well Real Estate and Corporate Law; The focus of Steven's practice in Federal and New Jersey Estate Tax Planning and Elder Law has been on 'Asset Preservation' which results in the elimination or reduction of Taxation as well as "Quality of Life" planning for the senior years, as fully laid out and explained on the home page of this Web Site.
