Scott W. Paterson

Scott W. Paterson is an associate of Paris Ackerman & Schmierer LLP, where he focuses his practice on providing legal counsel to small and mid-sized businesses, with particular concentration on commercial litigation, commercial transactions, taxation, and franchise law.

Prior to joining Paris Ackerman & Schmierer LLP, Scott served as a judicial law clerk to the Hon. Joseph L. Rea, J.S.C., in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex County.

Scott earned his J.D. cum laude from Seton Hall University School of Law, where he was awarded the Best Appellate Brief for his work in Appellate Advocacy.  While at Seton Hall, Scott was a member and officer of the Tax Law Society, and participated in the Seton Hall Law School Center for Social Justice Pro Bono Service Program by assisting clients through the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA).  Scott is currently working on his masters of law (LL.M.) in taxation from New York University School of Law, with a particular focus on the tax aspects of business acquisitions and transactions.  Scott received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey in economics.

Scott is currently licensed to practice law in New York and New Jersey and admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.  Scott is a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Middlesex County Bar Association.
