David W. Badie Esq.

David Badie is a partner in Frier Levitt’s Healthcare Practice Group. David has extensive experience in the areas of healthcare and litigation. His practice covers a broad range of issues involving corporate, transactional and regulatory matters, compliance, risk management, licensing and credentialing, and administrative professional discipline. David also represents healthcare clients in a wide array of complex, high stakes, multi-party litigation.

Before joining Frier Levitt, David served as Associate General Counsel at University Hospital of New Jersey, an academic medical institution and state-designated Level 1 Trauma Center. There, David provided strategic legal counsel to members of the C-Suite and executive leadership, and partnered with the Chief Legal Officer and Deputy General Counsel on all functions, strategy, and administration of the Legal, Corporate, and External Relations Group. He oversaw risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and litigation strategy while negotiating complex healthcare agreements, including provider service contracts, vendor agreements, clinical affiliation agreements, and clinical trial agreements. At University Hospital, David also assisted internal clientele with various day-to-day business matters, conducted internal investigations, advised on policy development, and served on numerous committees including Patient Safety, Workplace Violence, Length of Stay, and Patient Grievance.

Prior to his time at UHNJ, David was a partner with a large national law firm and worked in the New Jersey and New York Healthcare and Medical Malpractice practice groups. In this role, he represented hospitals, healthcare providers, and pharmaceutical companies in high-exposure litigation across multiple jurisdictions. He also advised clients on compliance with HIPAA, EMTALA, and other key healthcare regulations.

David’s deep understanding of healthcare law, hospital operations, and litigation strategy makes him a trusted legal advisor committed to protecting healthcare organizations, their providers, administrators, directors, and officers.

He provides general counsel services and other legal representation for healthcare organizations and is often invited to speak at continuing legal and medical education programs and as a guest lecturer at hospitals, medical schools, physician assistant programs, nursing schools, and residency programs.
