Sarah E. Murray joined BRODER & ORLAND LLC in 2011 and is a partner in the firm. She has practiced in the area of family and matrimonial litigation since 2008. Her work includes trial and appellate matters. Sarah is the Chair of the firm’s Center for Family Law Appeals. Her professional achievements include being designated by the Connecticut Law Tribune as a 2015 New Leader in the Law. She has also been selected a New England Super Lawyers ® Rising Star® in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. in the area of Family Law. Sarah is admitted to practice in Connecticut and New York. In May 2011, she participated in the American Bar Association/National Institute of Trial Advocacy Family Law Trial Advocacy Institute. In the spring of 2011, she completed the Connecticut Judicial Branch Attorney for the Minor Child/Guardian Ad Litem Training.
Since 2011, Sarah has served as a member of the Board of Editors of the Connecticut Bar Journal and was selected as its Technical Editor. In 2017, she became Editor-in-Chief of the Connecticut Bar Journal.
She is a member of the American Bar Association, Connecticut Bar Association, New York State Bar Association, and Fairfield County Bar Association, as well as the Family Law Sections of these bar associations. Currently, she serves as Co-Chair of the Women in Law Committee of the Fairfield County Bar Association.
In addition to her other published work, Sarah is a co-author of Electronically Stored Information: What Matrimonial Lawyers and Computer Forensics Need to Know, 23 J. Am. Acad. Matr. Law 1 (2010) and is the author of Electronically Stored Information: How E-Mail, Texting, and Your Facebook Friends Can Affect Your Divorce, 34 Fam. Advocate No. 1, pg. 26 (Summer 2011). She moderated “Establishing and Modifying Support Orders after Dan v. Dan” at the Connecticut Bar Association’s 2016 Connecticut Legal Conference.
Sarah is a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Law, where she received the CALI Excellence for the Future awards in Juvenile Law, Higher Education Law, and Law and Literature of Crime. While in law school, she was the recipient of the Public Interest Law Group Summer Fellowship in two consecutive years, as well as the Helen Z. Pearl Feminist Law Prize. In addition, she was an Associate Editor of the Connecticut Public Interest Law Journal from 2006 to 2007 and an Executive Editor from 2007 to 2008. Sarah is a Phi Beta Kappa, magna cum laude graduate of the College of the Holy Cross. She was selected as a valedictorian nominee at Holy Cross based on her top academic performance.
A native of Westchester County, New York, Sarah currently resides with her husband in Wilton, Connecticut. She volunteers as an alumni interviewer for the College of Holy Cross and for the Connecticut Family Law Volunteer Attorney Program.
