Andrea Doyle Asman

I used Peter Litwin for years and thought highly of him. He retired and I got stuck with Andrea Asman. I couldn’t attend a real estate closing and she sent me a durable power of attorney. The document literally looked like a kindergartener did it. I would have been embarrassed if this was my work ...product sent to a client and told her so. When I asked her why I even needed to sign it because Peter had done one and it was in their files she told me that because I live in SC, the CT one wasn’t good anymore. That is disingenuous. People move all the time and that does not invalidate wild, trusts or POA’s. In addition, for a real estate closing, you can do a 1 time power of attorney for the closing. It is specific to that event rather than the more broad durable power of attorney. I am unclear why Andrea did not suggest that, is she really ignorant of the proper uses for documents? In the end, I drafted my own single use POA, negotiated language with the bank (Andrea was late to that game. When she reached out to the bank about adding unnecessary language, she was told, “that was handled two days ago-we are all set”.). In addition, if you seek aggressive legal representation, she is NOT your girl. She is also slow to respond, sometimes not at all in my case and she seems averse to answering basic questions. The only reason I’m stuck with her is because my husband’s family has used the firm for years. If it were up to me, they would fire her. I did a better job representing myself and I’m not an attorney, then she did attempting to represent me. I’m not clear why Peter hired her or what he say in her, she is not up to his caliber.

We were delighted to find this lawyer after working for years with a person who didn't do much but charged too much. Andrea responds to email and phone calls within 24 hours, and she always has the correct answer to complex questions. Our mother left a small, but complicated, estate which bewildered ...the other lawyer, but which Andrea picked up and sorted out in a few weeks. I highly recommend this lawyer. Plus, she's proven to be a really "good" human being.
