Dean A Hanafin

Attorney Hanafin began his career as a prosecutor with the Office of the State’s Attorney where he handled criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to serious felony cases. He was responsible for a significant daily docket, in addition to hearings and trial work. He tried numerous cases to verdict and developed his trial skills from significant time spent in the courtroom. Attorney Hanafin is also familiar with technological advancements that impact evidence in cases including cellphone technology, and current laws related to drone use.

Attorney Hanafin joined an established civil litigation law firm in Hartford, Connecticut where he worked alongside veteran attorneys and support staff where he practiced in the areas of criminal defense, personal injury, worker’s compensation and general litigation.

Attorney Hanafin's current practice includes criminal defense, business litigation, and employment law. He has extensive experience in pre-arrest counselling during investigations, in-court representation, and trial defense. His prior cases include larceny, embezzlement, fraud, and financial crimes. He has also handles cases involving assault, drug offenses including possession and trafficking, and serious motor vehicle cases. His experience in financial crimes has helped him in areas of business litigation where his work includes oppression of shareholder rights, breach of fiduciary duty, dissolution cases, breach of contract, and unfair trade practices.

In addition to his litigation work, Attorney Hanafin advises and assists start-up and established companies in corporate formation, contract drafting, and general counsel services. Additionally, Attorney Hanafin advises companies on permitting, licensing, leasing, business planning and funding of day to day operations.
