Lacks attention to details. Poor retention skills of conversations and documents submitted by client; unable to understand the terms and conditions of a PreNup. Submitted court briefs with wrong information, then says....'no big deal'; yet his brief counter my [client's] testimony. Offered on mul...tiple occasions to bring another attorney from my resident state and the firm that wrote the pre nup. Refused additional help. Took over a month to return phone calls following a Court hearing. When errors in brief and documents he failed to present to court are brought up, says, 'I quit ' one month before settlement scheduled for June. Refused to provide evidence to court of title forgery of joint assets. Failed to use the correct commercial market evaluations to calculate settlement terms. Falsely advised client to address jointly titled assets in another State's court AFTER divorce is finalized. Advised client not to pay settlement because I live out of state. Has zero knowledge of managing a divorce of out of state resident. Failed to protect client's interests by failing to provide courts with supporting documentation from police reports of forgery and active insurance risk . Then following a deposition, proudly announces that he had cocktails with opposing counsel and learned that client was not paying the bill. Ignored 8 months of client's requests to NOT schedule hearings in month of October. Did it any way. Never provided client with a certified copy of divorce decree. Failed to provide a divorce decree with the details required for the State of NC [after multiple discussions of what was needed.]. Failed to send funds he held to opposing counsel by the date per settlement agreement and as agreed in conversation with him on October 10, 2025. Held those funds for over two months, thereby causing a violation of the divorce agreement. Coerced client into signing an agreement that was not in the best interests of the client. After multiple requests for ALL file information by a specified date, failed to provide ALL file documentation....missing all file notes on court discussions, court updates or notes of calls with opposing counsel. This represents a loss to me in excess of $70K because Attorney Barber failed to adhere to the prenup that includes ALL jointly titled assets.
