When I was 16 years old I was seriously injured in an automobile accident. I suffered personal injuries to my liver and had to have my spleen removed. My mother hired an attorney to bring a lawsuit against the person who injured me. By the time the case settled I was a freshman at the University of Connecticut. I was looking for a career and wasn't quite sure what I wanted to be. My experience with being injured, dealing with my attorney, settling the case etc. inspired me to become an attorney myself. I declared my major, graduated UConn, and then put myself through law school. Thirty (30) years later I am still representing clients thanks to that episode that influenced me so long ago.
In 2018 I celebrated my 30th year in practice. I have run my own office since 1994, which makes me a self-employed businessman. 2018 also marked my 27 year wedding anniversary. I have purchased and sold homes, lost loved ones, dealt with running a business... in short, I have experienced most of the situations my clients experience and so bring a great frame of reference to my practice. In short, my own life experiences allow me to empathize with my clients, which makes me a better attorney.
As for the "disciplinary action" on my face page... My reply speaks for itself. That was in 1993. I was 32 years old, a completely different person that who I am today. And I refuse to let that episode, or AVVO's posting of it, define who I am.

Review of David Minicozzi
I am a past and current client of David Minicozzi. I have used a number of lawyers in the past. But I would prefer to use David as opposed to the others. He has always given me prompt, thorough and honest advice. He has guided me through difficult and emotional times. If I hadn't listened to his advi...
Thank you Joann! I am happy you feel so strongly about my peformance over the past 28 years. FYI if anyone wants further information regarding the "disciplinary incident" I would be more than happy to discuss it with you. You can rest assured that AVVO's insistence on referring to this ancient (1993!) incident will not disuade me from providing the best advice I can possibly give!
"David Minicozzi is a talented, passionate attorney whose advice I've valued for years. David is an excellent resource and consummate professional who I would unconditionally recommend."

Reprimand issued in CT, 1994
updated on 11/05/2018A reprimand is an order from the Statewide Grievance Committee after it has found that an attorney has engaged in ethical misconduct. If an attorney receives more than 3 reprimands in 5 years, a presentment must be filed against the attorney so the Superior Court can decide if more serious discipline should be ordered.
“My client's ex-husband filed the complaint; it had nothing to do with anyone's money; no one was materially harmed and justice was eventually done; it has been 25 years and I have redeemed myself many times over. If anything the experience made me a better attorney. I have been married 27 years; my wife loves me; I have many happy and satisfied clients, a number of whom I count as friends. In spite of Avvo keeping this remark I continue to act as a shepherd for my clients.”

The case eventually settled for c.$650,000.00. There was an issue as to whether she should have come back up the ramp rather than chance it by walking around the cone. Best to settle rather than take a chance in front of a jury.
