Attorney Thomas G. Moukawsher is a founding member of Moukawsher & Walsh, LLC, in Hartford, Connecticut. He is a co-chair of the Employee Benefits Committee of the American Bar Association. He is a fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel.
Mr. Moukawsher is one of the country's leading innovators in employee benefits laws, having helped shape fiduciary duty law from California to Connecticut. Mr. Moukawsher's cases include blocking employer misrepresentations about golden handshakes following an En Banc opinion from the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Bins v. Exxon and winning several favorable opinions on the same subject from the Northern District of Illinois in Adamczyk v. Lever Brothers. His cases include 401(k) fraud cases with multi-million recoveries like the successful settlements in Connecticut of Briere v. Emergi-Lite and Wasley v. Bulakites. They range in size from private disability plan pension cases worth thousands like Mikrut v. Unum to ERISA disclosure violation cases worth more than $75 million each like Richards v. FleetBoston and Amara v. CIGNA.
Mr. Moukawsher is an editor and contributing author of the respected BNA book, Employee Benefits Law (2d ed. 2000). He has been a frequent lecturer on employee benefits law throughout the country including regular engagements for the American Bar Association, Thomson Reuters, the Pension Rights Center, and the Georgetown University Law Center.
