Adam B Marks

Adam B. Marks is an associate in the Updike, Kelly & Spellacy’s Hartford office. Mr. Marks focuses his practice on complex civil litigation concerning a wide range of matters including business disputes, intellectual property, and creditors’ rights. Mr. Marks represents clients in federal district courts and Connecticut Superior Court regarding contract claims, unfair trade practices, foreclosures, derivative actions, replevins and deficiency actions, false advertising, and intellectual property disputes concerning both ownership and infringement. Mr. Marks matriculated to the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2006 after graduating from Brandeis University, where he majored in Economics and Communications and Media Studies. While attending law school, Mr. Marks was an Executive Editor of the Connecticut Law Review, in which he also published an article on the National Football League's Personal Conduct Policy. He was a member of the Mediation Clinic, Co-President of the Arts, Entertainment and Sports Law Society, a mentor for the Women's Law Students' Association and a teaching assistant for first year contracts students. During law school, Mr. Marks also had the opportunity to intern for the Appellate Bureau of the Office of the Chief's State's Attorney, where he briefed and argued State v. Davis, 109 Conn. App. 187 (2008), before the Connecticut Appellate Court. Following his graduation from law school in 2009, Mr. Marks had the privilege of clerking for the Honorable Douglas S. Lavine of the Connecticut Appellate Court. Prior to joining Updike, Kelly & Spellacy, Mr. Marks practiced in the areas of civil litigation, civil appeals and white collar criminal defense at another firm in Hartford. Mr. Marks was recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star in Connecticut in 2014. In his free time, Mr. Marks enjoys cooking, sports and coaching youth basketball in West Hartford where he grew up and currently resides with his wife.
