Jeffrey McChristian

I have been engaged in the private practice of law in a variety of general practice firms in the Hartford, Connecticut area since 1978.  My practice currently focuses on the following areas:  commercial and residential real estate transactions, including extensive experience in reverse mortgage closings; general civil litigation, including title claims defense, contested probatematters, personal injury and traumatic brain injury cases; small business representation of all kinds, including the organization, sale, purchase and financing of small businesses, as well as general commercial litigation involving businesses; consumer and small business bankruptcy representation, including bankrutpcy litigation; commercial and residential landlord-tenant representation, including lease negotations and litigation involving all aspects of the landlord-tenant relationship; foreclosure and foreclosure defense matters; and wills, trusts, estate planning and estate administration matters.

For the past 20 years I have served as an arbitrator, attorney trial referee and fact-finder in the Hartford and New Britain Judicial Districts, and formerly as a small claims hearing officer in the Hartford Housing Session.  I have served as a lecturer on Housing Court Practice and Procedure for the Connecticut Bar Association’s legal education series for young lawyers, as well as serving as a presenter on Residential and Commercial Evictions for a variety of continuing legal education seminars.  I have made numerous presentations to area lenders, realtors and senior centers on the topic of reverse mortgages.

I received my Bachelor of Arts degree cum laude from WesleyanUniversity and my Juris Docter degree from the University of Connecticut.  I am admitted to practice inall courts in Connecticut, before the United States District Court, Connecticut, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York, and the United States Supreme Court.
