Avery T. Day

I grew up on Vinalhaven and graduated from Vinalhaven High School before attending the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. I graduated from Harvard Law School in 2009 and have been admitted to the Bar in Maine and Massachusetts.

Prior to general transactional legal practice, I served as the Governor’s Chief Legal Counsel, providing the Governor with advice on legal matters, as well as working with a variety of governmental agencies, including the Judicial Branch; the Office of the Attorney General; The Governor’s Board on Executive Clemency; the Governor’s Judicial Selection Committee; the Maine Commission on Ethics and Elections Practices; the Maine Human Rights Commission; and the Maine Indian Tribal-State Commission. My prior state service includes serving as Acting Commissioner of the Maine Department of Environmental Protection.

Prior to working for the State of Maine, I worked at Maine’s largest law firm for over five years, working on government relations and litigation matters.  This work primarily involved representing businesses and associations before the Maine Legislature and regulatory agencies.

At Royal River Law, LLC, I maintains a general practice, focusing on transactional matters that includes real estate transactions, corporate formation and counsel for small businesses, and some probate practice.

I live in Yarmouth with my wife and two kids.
