A fire destroyed a vessel and damaged other vessels stored ashore at a boat yard. Pursuant to the Exoneration and Limitation of Liability Act (Limitation Act), 46 U.S.C.S. § 30501 et seq., the vessel o ... wner petitioned the court to limit his potential liability for the damage caused by the fire. The court did not have jurisdiction because the Limitation Act did not confer admiralty jurisdiction over petitions seeking limitation of liability based on incidents that occurred entirely on land.
