Stay far away from this law office!

Stay far away from this law office! I hired Attorney Chris Heberg in November 2018 for a family court matter. I meet with Mr. Heberg for the first time in November 2018 where I outlined all my requests which consisted of four separate issues. In January of 2019 he made a call to the attorney who rep...resents my ex in an attempt to handle the matters outside of court which was refused by his attorney. I was notified by Mr. Heberg's paralegal that we would be filing a motion to go to court. I did not have another meeting with Mr. Heberg until April 4, 2019 after much harassment and the meeting was required to review again what my issues were because he couldn't remember despite my putting in writing for him what I was looking to do. The same occurred again which resulted in a meeting on May 23, 2019 where we discussed once again what it was that I was looking to have done and I provided him in writing with my requests AGAIN. All three meetings consisted of me telling him over and over again what I was looking to do I even provided Mr Heberg with all the necessary documents so he had no research to do for my case. For example I provided all the estimates for my daughters school and then the actual bill when he took so long. When he called me in Sept or Oct. of 2019 to have another meeting I refused and told him to just file the motions that I requested. I was given a court date in November of 2019 but it was only for one issue not the four that I had requested be addressed. I requested that the date be canceled if all issues were not addressed in the filed motion as I did not want to miss multiple days of work and he was not doing as I requested. He finally answered my request two days prior to the court date! Since that time I have emailed him with no response. I made a request for a full refund I got a reply from him the same day stating he would look into things but have not heard anything from him since that day. I did receive an email from Mr. Heberg on 12/29/19 informing me that he would get me a bill for the services he claims he rendered but have not heard anything else since that time. This law office has wasted over a year of my life and I have nothing to show for it. I still have to go and file to take my ex to court and will be doing it on my own now thanks to the bad taste left in my mouth from this office and I still haven't gotten a refund and it's now Novemebr of 2020.

He gets you results

Chris is a great attorney. He keeps you informed, he’s realistic and is extremely knowledgeable. He took over my case after I was unhappy with my pervious attorney. I wish I hired him first!!! I highly recommend Chris!

You really do get what you pay for

I originally hired Chris in March of 2019 to help me adopt my son. He told me the process wasn’t complicated and it should take about six months. I was unemployed and didn’t have unlimited resources so the price was very reasonable but I guess it’s true...you get what you pay for. My adoption case be...came final Nov. 12, 2020. Seems that the only way I could get Chris to respond to my emails was to threaten her with calling the Bar Association or something. I could never just get a timely response. One of the documents I had to provide for the court was my son’s original birth certificate. That had to come from the Philippines and it was not easy to procure. I gave it to Chris and the court says they personally handed it back to him the day my son’s adoption was final. Now, he can’t find it. I requested all my documents before the final hearing and Mr. Heberg said he would bring them all to me. The day of the adoption he did not. When I asked him what happened to my files he replied that he keeps them for many years. Then I found out that I’m actually entitled to have my files. Mr. Heberg didn’t respond to my subsequent requests for them (as well as my son’s birth certificate) until I’d informed him that I’d called the RI Board of Bar Overseers. As I write this today, I still don’t have my files but Mr. Heberg says they’re “in the mail”. He still says that he can’t find my son’s birth certificate and that’s pretty much the end of that, he’s done. My option here is to hire another lawyer to sue him to pay for my expenses in procuring yet another birth certificate. I’m so tired of this process but now, if I want my son’s birth certificate I have to go to court again? Agggggh. Buyer beware. If you hire Chris Heberg it will take you three times as long to resolve your case and get minimal response (if any) to your inquiries. Plus he may lose your original, important paperwork. I just don't want someone else to have to go through what I experienced with this lawyer.

Tommi - you have the wrong attorney. I am very sorry but we do not have a Tommie Walker listed as ever being a client of ours. I don't do adoptions.

Great attorney

Mr. Heberg was very thorough and asked many questions. Considering the complexity of my case his patience and understanding was appreciated. He presented a variety of options when needed or when I seemed unsure as to what to do. He was a professional throughout and down to earth at the same time. ... I would highly recommend him as he and Ms. Lindberg were a stellar team throughout the very long drawn out process.
