Michael Franco

Attorney Michael Franco is a partner at the Law Offices of Beauregard, Burke & Franco - an established SouthCoast law firm that specializes in all fields of civil litigation, particularly personal injury cases and employment cases.

Attorney Franco is a summa cum laude graduate of Boston University, where he was named to the Phi Beta Kappa, Golden Key, and Scarlet Key honor societies. Attorney Franco received a juris doctor degree cum laude from Boston University School of Law. He was case and note editor of the school’s Probate Law Journal. While attending law school, Attorney Franco worked as a legislative aide at the Massachusetts State House. Attorney Franco joined Beauregard & Burke in 1994 and became a partner in 2001.

Attorney Franco actively practices in the state and federal courts of Massachusetts. In addition to his trial work, he has handled appeals in the Massachusetts Appeals Court and the Supreme Judicial Court, the U.S. Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Attorney Franco has handled complex cases involving auto accidents, personal injury, wrongful death, professional malpractice, and insurance coverage, including a bad faith settlement case that resulted in a judgment of more than $4 million.

In 2017, Attorney Franco was appointed to a three-year term as hearing officer for the Board of Bar Overseers. He was reappointed to a second three-year term in 2020. The BBO is an administrative agency established to investigate and evaluate disciplinary complaints against attorneys practicing in Massachusetts.

Attorney Franco is co-author of chapters in the MCLE books Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Torts, Massachusetts Tort Law Manual, and Ethical Lawyering in Massachusetts. He is past president of the board of trustees for the Zeiterion Theatre in New Bedford. He moderates the popular Facebook group “Newport, Lost & Found,” which explores the architectural history of Newport, RI.
