Thomas P. Crotty

Mr. Crotty is a member of the group of eight or so reasonably skilled litigators practicing in New Bedford. He has adequately and professionally handled a small land use matter for me and has conducted some large-scale (for the region) environmental litigation. I do not know why his Martindale-Hubb...ell rating is "BV"--he is certainly more talented than Philip Beauregard, who merits an "AV" rating from that agency. Although I can assure the reader that Mr. Crotty is competent, I cannot, however, recommend him, because he is so personally distasteful. Mr. Crotty is one of the coldest, most humorless men I have ever known. He is simply Not Nice. I can only speculate that it is this personality defect that caused the breakdown in his law partnership with the very bright and talented Daniel C. Perry, who now practices happily with his partner Marc R. Deshaies. It has been said that when you hire a lawyer, you are buying another person's charisma and goodwill. There is no charisma to Mr. Crotty. For this reason, take your legal business elsewhere. A lawsuit is a tough enough experience--you do not want your guide through the horrors of a lawsuit to be a ghoul.
