This was my first time hiring my own lawyer. He asked for payment up front, and contact with him from then on was sparse and vague. There were multiple times he didn't recognize my face when I met him at the courthouse. At the Discovery Hearing he seemed nervous and told me we had a 50/50 chance of s...uccess. This prompted me to settle for a plea deal which involved serving time, something he earlier said would not happen.

Contacted Michael after a rough night and an extensive Google search. He seemed to be the name popping up at the top of the queries and he answered when I called. I felt like the initial phone call went well, he seemed knowledgeable and professional in addition to sounding optimistic regarding my oui... offense. What a difference to the sit down consult I next experienced. Here in front of me is this squirrelly guy with a dirty laptop and grubby office who remembers not even my name but nothing of my case that I had already in detail explained to him on the phone. He basically proceeds to tell me that I have no shot of obtaining a not guilty verdict but has no problem with taking $2000 from me (his rate if it doesn't go to trial, he told me $6000 more if it does) for literally zero work. He made it seem like my only option and I was desperate. On the one and only court date in Attleboro (where I'm found completely guilty) his associate shows up (not even him), no exaggeration, 2 hours late. I honestly could have done when she did with no law degree. No effort whatsoever put in to fight for me. I am furious that I paid this man even one cent for the nonexistent attention he paid to my case. Don't be fooled by the 10/10. I was. It's a total scam. I want my 2K back.
