I watched Cam help my daughter through a difficult court trial

My daughter hired Cam when her ex-husband took her back to court for what we all believe were harassment reasons. I sat in the courtroom as emotional support for my daughter during the trial in front of a judge, and was extremely impressed with how quietly and efficiently Cam presented my daughter's ...case, which she won. The ex's nuisance "contempt of court" charges were dismissed and my daughter got every result she had hoped for by going to trial. Cam inspired such confidence in my daughter that she let go of her fear of taking the stand in front of a judge. In the end, she did not need to take the stand because the trial concluded early and efficiently and in my daughter's favor.

End of a traumatic era

I came to Cam’s office 6 years after my divorce was finalized. My initial divorce proceedings spanned 3 years of mediation and then litigation that left me paralyzed and confined by a vague separation agreement and a vindictive and rigid ex-husband. Even after years of consultation, my two previous... attorneys were not able to account for a mother whose employment requires time at sea. Cam seemed to intuitively understand my circumstances, she empathized with the abuse and hostility I had been living in and was willing to fight for a woman’s right to have both a career and care for her children. After one year of negotiation, my case went to trial. In preparation for the trial, Cam was available at any hour. She really researched the case, going far back into history to re-create and document a timeline of events and complicated family circumstances. Cam was respectful of my wishes to minimize contact with an abusive ex-husband in the courthouse and worked systematically and consistently on my behalf during the trial. She was stellar in her approach and delivery of evidence and facts. Because of her brilliant cross-examination, I was not required to take the stand or say ONE WORD in my defense during the trial. In what I am told was an unprecedented event, the judge decided quickly in my favor and before I knew what was happening, we were signing a modification agreement that gave me everything I had hoped for. I couldn’t be happier. Cam gave me my life back.

Mediated our divorce

My husband and I decided to get divorced. Our kids are teenagers so they pretty much just come and go as they want. All of us were okay with just keeping schedules flexible. We pretty much knew how we wanted to split everything. We wanted to get divorced without spending tens of thousands of dollar...s. A friend of mine recommended Attorney Richardson. She told me Cam would stay neutral and not over charge us. I believe she handled our divorce the same way. It wasn't exactly cheap but it was cheaper than if we had kept going back to court. With this we only had to go to court once. Cam talked to us in normal people words and wasn't arrogant like so many attorneys. She made the process go much smoother than I thought it would. I feel like Cam was able to explain things in a way that made me make informed decisions. I feel that our divorce agreement was fair. I didn't get everything I wanted in the divorce but neither did my husband. If I find out someone is thinking about divorce I will recommend they go to her!

She told me not to spend my money.

I met with Cam and told her my situation the mother of my daughter. Cam boiled it down for me so I could understand what going to court could do for me. After meeting with her, I was able to realize that I could spend thousands of dollars on legal fees, not really change a lot, and make things even... heated with my ex. I was ready to give Cam her retainer and she told me to go home, sleep on it, and decide if I want to spend my money on her or saving for my daughter's education. I decided that I wanted to save my money! But now I know how to be smarter about involving the courts in my case. If something happens and I need to go to court, I trust that Cam will do right by me. It is clear to me that Cam wants to make money as a lawyer she is not a lawyer that is going to take a case just to make money. Cam is an attorney with integrity and I don't think you find that every day. Especially in cases that have to do with divorce and kids. I would refer her to a friend or a family member. She gave me legal guidance and perspective that was very worthwhile. Thanks Cam! I didn't like everything you told me but I respect you for it.

She kept my case in perspective for me

My divorce was extremely stressful with my ex and I arguing about the kids, retirement money, real estate, etc. My ex said awful things! Cam helped me keep what was in front of the court in perspective. She helped me understand what to focus on for the court part of my divorce. Sometimes she said... it wasn't worth the fight because of the cost and other times she said it is worth the fight. I trusted her and found that she really listed to what was IMPORTANT TO ME. In court, she knew my case better than my ex's attorney. She would also meet with me after work and around my kids' schedules. My manager didn't like me taking a lot of time off and I needed to save my time for when I had to be with my kids. The divorce was awful but I think it would have been worse if I didn't have Cam as my attorney. A friend of mine was served with divorce papers this week and I had her call Cam. I know Cam will do right by my friend.
