My husband and I were referred to Kate when we needed help with estate planning. Our situation was a little complicated, because we wanted to make sure that our young child and my mother would be taken care of in the event of disaster. Kate was incredibly patient in explaining details and laid out ...all of our options in a way that was thorough, but not overwhelming. She's a great listener, and by asking the right questions, she was able to narrow down our options to those that made sense for our complicated needs. We ended up setting up a trust as part of the estate planning process, as well as setting up a living will, power of attorney, etc., and she made the complicated process as easy as possible for us. I didn't expect estate planning to be quite such an emotional process, but it was, and Kate did an excellent job helping us navigate tricky issues with kindness and care. She's great at communicating by email and in person, and the time we spent with her was always really pleasant (not all lawyers are as fun to spend time with!). One reason I think that Kate is great with families is that she has strong family ties herself, so she understands how important it is to get estate planning right! You can tell she truly cares, and that means a lot when your family's future is on the line!
