James Grumbach’s litigation practice focuses on insurance coverage, professional liability, personal injury, property damage, employment and business disputes. Jim brings substantial experience in civil litigation to his clients, representing individuals and businesses in a wide variety of matters.
With three decades of experience as a trained mediator, Jim is a fierce advocate for individuals. He devotes a substantial portion of his career to serving as a neutral. He mediates and arbitrates disputes involving commercial and contract matters, employment, discrimination, insurance, construction, internal corporate/partnership matters, divorces, real estate, loan workouts, leases, product liability, lead paint, professional liability and personal injury claims. Additionally, he serves as a case evaluator, hearing officer and discovery master to help people work through their disputes.
Prior to the joining Boston Law Collaborative, LLC, Jim practiced with Wilchins Cosentino & Friend LLP, formerly known as Seegel Lipshutz & Wilchins. Jim has been practicing law for thirty-eight years and is a former member of the law firm Grumbach & Royal, LLC as well as other law firms based in New England. Early in his career, Jim represented large insurance companies and insurance brokers. This experience, combined with his current role as a counselor to individuals and small companies and his work with public and adjusters, provides clients with a well-rounded understanding of the industry and how best to overcome challenges. Over the course of his successful career, Jim has tried countless cases, both jury and jury-waived, as well as before administrative and other tribunals and hearing officers.
Jim is a frequent author and speaker on alternative dispute resolution, and has served on panels involving ADR, insurance and civil litigation. He is honored to have been named a Massachusetts Super Lawyer by Boston Magazine consecutively over the last nine years. Jim is a Martindale Hubbell AV-rated attorney, the highest rating awarded attorneys for high ethical standards and professional ability.
