Dawn Reddy Solowey

Dawn Solowey is Senior Counsel in Seyfarth Shaw's Labor & Employment group, specializing in trials and appeals.  Ms. Solowey, an experienced litigator and trial lawyer, represents management clients in labor and employment litigation in federal and state courts, in arbitration, and in the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and equivalent state agencies. 

Ms. Solowey is a member of Seyfarth's National Trial Team and has successfully tried many cases in federal and state court.  Some of her recent jury trials have involved defending claims of discrimination, retaliation, failure to accommodate religious practice, and defamation, to complete defense verdicts.  Ms. Solowey, a member of Seyfarth's Appellate Team, also has significant experience representing employers in high-stakes appeals and post-trial motions in federal and state courts around the country.  

Ms. Solowey is a member of Seyfarth’s Whistleblower Team and successfully argued a seminal Sarbanes-Oxley whistleblower retaliation case in the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. 

Ms. Solowey’s expertise spans federal employment law and analogous state claims, including Title VII, ADEA, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, civil and equal rights, wage-and-hour, and tort claims.  She has particular expertise in helping employers navigate employee requests for religious accommodation.  Ms. Solowey has significant experience in defending defamation claims against employers, as well as newspaper and television clients. 

Ms. Solowey advises clients regarding a wide range of personnel and workplace issues, providing practical solutions that minimize legal risk and respect the business' needs.   

Ms. Solowey has authored many articles providing thought leadership on trial and appellate practice and strategy.  She is General Editor of Wage & Hour Collective and Class Litigation, ALM Law Journal Press (2012), the definitive treatise on wage and hour litigation.
