Robert Blasi is a member of Danielson Legal LLC and has previously served as a partner with Goodwin Procter LLP and an associate with Testa, Hurwitz & Thibeault LLP. Mr. Blasi has significant experience acting as outside counsel to hundreds of technology clients, advising them on legal issues that they encounter every day including patent strategy and portfolio development, licensing, intellectual property issues arising in corporate transactions, and open source software.
Mr. Blasi has developed and managed patent portfolios in the areas of computer software and hardware and business methods both domestically and abroad for clients ranging from start-ups to members of the Fortune 1000, and has advised his clients on patent litigation matters. He has negotiated technology and IP licenses in academic and commercial contexts, and has experience with commercial arrangements, including reseller and OEM agreements, maintenance and support agreements, distribution and marketing agreements, end user license agreements, consulting and professional services agreements, employment agreements, and confidentiality agreements. Mr. Blasi is an authority on issues concerning software made available under "open source" licenses.
Mr. Blasi holds a Juris Doctor from Harvard Law School (cum laude), a Master's in Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University (summa cum laude). He is admitted to practice before the United States Patent Office, the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts, the Federal District Court for the District of Massachusetts, and the Federal Courts of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Federal Circuit.
