also known as Liz Surette
I am a Massachusetts-licensed attorney dedicated to serving the video game, software, multimedia and entertainment industries--developers, publishers, etc. As the founder of Overclocked Legal and a lifelong enthusiast of software, video games, music, and media, I will pursue the advancement of my clients' needs with energetic dedication which springs from a genuine interest in my clients' products and success. Those are my main areas of interest and I also have a well-rounded education in entertainment law in general. This includes but is not limited to copyright and trademarks (registration, licensing, etc), and writing contracts along with negotiation of their material terms. Because my main passions are tech, music and gaming, a client in any creative or digital content medium will find me especially enthusiastic in helping them reach their goals. I also offer business services.
Though transactional law is my main area of interest, I am also well-trained in litigation and all manner of practical skills including oral advocacy (trial and appellate), negotiation, trial practice and preparation, client-centered lawyering, and written advocacy. I have tried a full case before a MA Probate and Family Court, and have successfully argued motions, performed discovery, and counseled clients in civil matters.
Throughout school, I developed a deep understanding of and affinity for advanced Constitutional law. This is especially true of the First Amendment, as I decided at a very young age that I wanted to spend my life protecting ideas and expression from censorship. Samples of my writing on the subject can be found at .
When not providing outstanding client service, I enjoy gaming, heavy metal, music theory, and guitar-playing that gets less and less passable every year.

I am a freelance digital artist and first met Liz at community events--she is very friendly and courteous. I remembered her when I wanted to hire a lawyer to help me draft a contract for a new project/client. She told me clearly from the outset the price for the type and quantity of work, and she stu...
"Liz is driven to see that her clients succeed because she both is good at what she does and believes in what they do. Also, she is the only lawyer I have met that I would say is maybe even more of a gamer than I am."
"Liz is an excellent lawyer, offering insightful legal analysis on a wide array of issues, including intellectual property. Her commentary and analysis of topical Supreme Court decisions was directly responsible for the success of GamesLaw, the legal blog Liz wrote for."
