Everybody has Problems..

It doesn't matter what your skin color is-black, white, or yellow; as long as you bleed red, you have problems. However, problems are quite relative. Without your health, financial or marital problems won't seem so pressing. And without your freedom, money and relationships are not so worrisome. I re...cently found myself locked up as a result of defaulting on a summons to appear in court, for a fairly minor infraction. Nonetheless, I was stressing. All night long in the tiny cell, all alone, with no idea what to do, all I could think about was how trivial it seemed to have been worrying about 'this and that' during the hours preceding my arrest. None of those problems mattered anymore. I had lost my freedom! Was I going to be able to afford an attorney? Was I going to be released on personal recognizance? Was I going to be fined, mandated to community service, or worse? Enter Attorney Kelli Ganz Murray. Without any action on my part, at 9:00 a.m. before my court appearance, she unexpectedly and suddenly appeared on the other side of the bars to the holding cell adjacent to the courtroom. Twenty minutes later, after a series of questions and answers between us, I thankfully felt extremely relieved, knowing that I absolutely had the right person to represent me. Highly professional, yet compassionate as well, Ms. Murray reassured me as to the likely favorable outcome that should prevail, based on her understanding of the facts, my background, and the law as it applied specifically to my case. Indeed, just a couple hours later, the case was dismissed, and I was once again breathing fresh air. Despite my foolish procrastination insofar as blowing off the court summons, Kelli successfully argued on my behalf. She could not have been more thorough, nor more sympathetic. Both the judge and the prosecutor seemed to respect her entirely. I hadn't even known she existed! So after thanking her profusely and wishing her well, I quickly left the courthouse. But the story does not end there: Two days later I received a troubling voice message from a detective bent on talking to me. Instead of returning his call, I phoned Ms. Murray, leaving an exasperated message on her machine. Despite being very busy, she quickly got back to me. In short, she gave me advice, based on her knowledge of the detectives possible motives, for which I was so grateful. Here's the kicker: even though she was no longer my attorney, and therefore was not bound whatsoever to suggest how I should handle the unwanted call from the detective, she STILL graciously took the time and energy to consult with me over the phone. The entire experience could not have been more favorable. Oh and about money problems, here's how much it cost me: nothing! God bless you Kelli, and best wishes to you for continued success in your professional career!

Our Rating is calculated using information the lawyer has included on their profile in addition to the information we collect from state bar associations and other organizations that license legal professionals. Attorneys who claim their profiles and provide Avvo with more information tend to have a higher rating than those who do not.

What determines Avvo Rating?
  • Experience & background Years licensed, work experience, education
