George Tobia is a Partner and Chair of the firm's Entertainment and Media practice. He represents clients in both the traditional and emerging media arenas.
George handles contracts and other arrangements involving book publishing, motion picture, television, radio, podcasting, online/digital content, copyright and trademark licensing, MCN (multi-channel network) projects, commercial endorsements, speaker services, brand funded content, and marketing/advertising sponsorships and events. He represents investors, producers, publishers, and artists.
He is the attorney for the literary estates and properties of some of the world's best-known authors, such as those of Hunter S. Thompson and Jack Kerouac. He also represents many current authors, journalists, publishers, and broadcasters, ranging from those of the highest national and international profiles to newer, up-and-coming writers.
Given his background in tax law and finance, George is able to provide much-needed business advice in addition to contract work. For example, he has handled many deals involving the Massachusetts Film Tax credit for production companies and studios. He also represents both investors and producers in related financial matters, including fundraising and tax credit monetization.
