John David Finnegan

John D. Finnegan is Of Counsel to Hill Law.  Mr. Finnegan concentrates his practice in the areas of tax lien foreclosures, creditors’ rights in bankruptcy, and business litigation.  Mr. Finnegan frequently practices before various trial courts including the United States District Court; the United States Bankruptcy Court; the Massachusetts Superior Court; the Land Court; and the Massachusetts District Court.  He acts as Special Counsel to a number of municipalities in Massachusetts as well as representing businesses, banking and financial services companies, and individuals.  Named a Massachusetts Rising Star in the years 2005 through 2011 by Boston magazine, Mr. Finnegan is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. Mr. Finnegan earned his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.  Mr. Finnegan is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Hampshire and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District and Bankruptcy Courts for the Districts of Massachusetts and New Hampshire, as well as the First Circuit Court of Appeals.  He is a past-President of the Massachusetts Municipal Lawyers Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corporation from 2011 to 2023.
