Timothy Lau

I am a tax attorney and the founder of Lau Legal Services PLLC. My practice focuses on tax controversy and estate planning.

On the tax side, I handle IRS and state matters such as audits, appeals, and back tax issues. Most clients come to me after receiving a notice they do not understand, after ignoring it for too long, or after bouncing between CPAs, EAs, or bookkeepers without getting a clear resolution. I step in, take over communication with the agencies, and move the matter toward a resolution before it escalates.

I also work with clients on estate planning, including revocable trusts, wills, and incapacity documents. My approach is practical. The goal is to make sure everything is clear, organized, and actually works when needed. I also handle planning for families with cross-border considerations or . spouses.

I am currently working on my LL.M. in Taxation at Boston University. Before practicing law, I served in the United States Army, which continues to shape how I approach my work. I value discipline, responsiveness, and clear communication.

Clients usually reach out during stressful situations. My role is to step in, simplify the process, and get the issue resolved so they can move forward.
