Divorce Lawyer

I would like to thank Anna Shapiro and her team for the great support and effort put in on my Divorce Case. Everyone was very professional and really made me feel as part of the team not just a client. The way you kept me informed of all options and costs was excellent. Tiffany Haines was extremel...y supportive and made this difficult process much easier. Picking Shapiro Law Group to represent me was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I would recommend anyone looking for a Law firm to represent them in their divorce to chose Shapiro Law Group.

Felt cheated

I was recently laid off and in a vulnerable situation. I strongly felt that this practice took advantage of it and I got jipped. A reasonable attorney would charge contingency based only on the amount by which they help to increase severance payment. However, unfortunately that was not the case. ...This practice based the contingency on what I was already being given as severance. The attorney sounded very confident that she had enough to build a case and negotiate for more $. I felt pressured and agreed, since I was told that if I do not decide right away then I will have to pay for yet another session. Right after signing the tone changed where there is no guarantee to get the increase. Also when I share the feedback, I was told that I am being rude. STOP, do not contract with an attorney who is taking a substantial chunk of your severance even if they are unsuccessful in negotiating for more. Considering the way the contract was framed, I would have hoped to get someone who pursued and was aggressive enough to get a positive outcome.

Good morning, John! Thank you for the feedback. I am sorry you feel this way - I was absolutely clear with you from the start about having NO expectations on getting more $, which you gladly agreed with and accepted. Further, I got you your severance back that you have already lost as it expired, as well as to have your employer work with us on tax breaks, so that you can receive more money. Truly wish you the best in your endeavors going forward, as I truly care for you as a Client! Thanks, Anna

Prenuptial Agreement

I hired Anna Shapiro to represent me for a prenuptial agreement after seeing all her positive reviews. Both Anna and my partner’s attorney said that our prenuptial agreement would be a straightforward matter because neither of us had complicated assets. My partner’s attorney drafted the agreement and... I had Anna and her associate review it. Throughout working with Anna and her associate, their communication with me was extremely lacking. They made significant changes to the agreement, that resulted in an essential rewrite of the draft, but never spoke to me about what changes they were going to make and why. They also included some language in the agreement that had the potential to be harmful to me in the future and could also make it easier to invalidate the prenup due to the complexity. I had spoken to Anna’s associate before they rewrote the agreement and they never mentioned which content they planned to change or that they planned to rewrite it. When I later talked to Anna and her associate about the changes and why they didn’t inform me beforehand, their response was, “We don’t know the changes we’ll make until we make them.” Their rewrite of the agreement resulted in a lot of back and forth between the attorneys, something that could have been avoided had Anna and her associate spoken with me to explain and receive my consent for the changes they were going to make prior to making them. My partner’s attorney would call my partner before every edit and made sure they explained the draft’s contents before my partner approved it. Anna and her associate did not do that with me. They simply sent the document and (in an email) told me to reach out to them with any questions. Anna and her associate had multiple meetings together, which I was never apprised of what they discussed. They also had multiple meetings with my partner’s attorney, and I was also never told about what took place or was discussed. Though Anna and her attorney did include some useful definitions and clarifications to the prenuptial agreement, her communication with me was poor and I felt uninformed throughout the whole process. The end result of working with Anna was a nearly $8,000 bill for a simple, straightforward prenup. I trusted the 5-star reviews that other clients had written about Anna; however, Anna and her associate’s communication with me made me feel like my case was a low priority for them and they didn’t have the time to spend on it as they would have if I had a more complex case.

Awful

Felt cheated. Little to no contact at all. She will only talk to you if you’re paying her and even then you’re stuck talking to the “front desk ladies”. Oh, when she doesn’t want to talk to you, she will say she’s on vacation. No ethics or morality and will threaten you saying you’ll get sued if you ...don’t do what she says. Please do yourself a favor and hire a different law firm!!!!

I am sorry you feel this way. Unfortunately, I don't know who you are, but definitely not one of my Clients. You came in on a Consult, and then sounds like wanted free advice after that, which is completely impossible since, once again, yo are NOT our Client. I gave you my best advice during our Consultation, trying to protect you going forward. So your assumptions are incorrect, unfortunately, and I forgive you for that. I truly wish you all the best going forward!
