Timothy Higley Powell

Tim Powell is an associate in the firm’s Labor & Employment and Higher Education groups. He advises businesses, non-profit organizations, and higher education institutions on a broad range of employment matters. He represents clients in proceedings before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, including the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Department of Labor, and the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, involving issues of discrimination and retaliation, wage-and-hour, non-competition, and trade secrets.

Tim is a frequent speaker at the firm’s College & University Roundtable Seminars, and has presented on topics including the legal implications of study abroad programs, accommodations for students and employees, and transgender issues on campus. He is an active member of the firm’s Higher Education and Craft Brewers industry groups and is a frequent contributor to their respective blogs, Campus Counsel and At the Bar with Bowditch. Tim has published several articles with national and regional media outlets on the topics of workplace bullying, age discrimination, non-competition agreements, and issues in the craft brewing industry.
