Marisa Wells Higgins

Marisa W. Higgins is a founding partner of Higgins & Plante, P.L.L.C., practicing across the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in family and probate law. She earned a B.A. from the College of the Holy Cross (1999), where she was inducted into Pi Sigma Alpha, and a J.D. from Villanova School of Law (2002), serving as an editor of the Villanova Environmental Law Journal and receiving the Wapner, Newman, Wigrizer award for excellence in trial advocacy. Marisa handles contested divorce, child custody, modification, contempt actions, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, and related enforcement and appellate matters. She regularly appears in Probate & Family Court on partition petitions, equity actions, guardianships, and conservatorships, and has substantial experience with cases involving special-needs children and the intersection of child support and public benefits. A frequent panelist and certified mediator/conciliator, Marisa is active in the Worcester County Bar Association, has provided pro bono representation through local volunteer programs, and has earned honors including Rising Star (Law & Politics, Boston magazine), Worcester Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty, and a Girl Scouts Woman of Distinction. She and her attorney husband are parents of two; she enjoys travel, the ocean, interior design, and reading.
