Jeanne M. Kempthorne

Jeanne Kempthorne took my case, which was an appeal from the Superior Court's dismissal of my complaint. She worked on the appellate brief from about six weeks, charging me over $10,000 for her work on the brief. The day before the brief was due, she called me and told me that my case was frivolous..., that she could not file my brief in the appeals court, and that she still expected to be paid. After I told her to stop working on the case, she continued to work on it. She sent me a final brief and joint appendix, which was unsigned and missing pages and was not in accordance with the appellate rules. She never filed the brief on my behalf, but instead sent me a bill for approximately $16,000 and stated that she would provide a $6000 discount if I paid the bill within sixty days. I had to hire another lawyer to take the case. This lawyer is currently representing me on appeal and has stated numerous times that the appellate issue is not frivolous. Another attorney who looked at Kempthorne's work on my case said her work was a "hack job." Do not hire Jeanne Kempthorne. She will rip you off, will give you incomplete and sloppy work, and will not file your brief or represent your interests in court, all while charging you $300/hr. Buyer beware!
